Relationships are more complicated in modern times, than past generations. It takes a special sort of savvy to see people as they are and categorize their traits. People in general are complicated and constantly changing.

There are more external influences, pressures and awareness than ever before. Societal pressures are more varied than ever, telling you to feel this way or another.

As you journey through the dating world you have to keep keen tabs on what is universally important.

There are patterns of behavior and intention that you should be on the lookout for. The presence of any of these patterns means a high potential for a strong productive relationship.

If your partner does any of the following 10 things, you should never let them go!

1. If They Can Calm You Down

At one point or another, despite best efforts and intention, we get very emotional.

Whether livid, depressed, anxious, or any other self destructive behavior, a person that can see your needs and meet them is a keeper.

Sometimes, though, a person brings ‘balance’ to your life at an unnecessary price. Your independence, confidence, self love and sense of freedom should always be present.

2. If They Share Your Sense Of Humor

Laughter is a crucial spice of life. Everyone’s flavor is different than the next.

If you find someone that not only appreciates your palate but expresses some deliciousness of their own, that’s a treasure.

3. If You Have The Same Hobbies And Interests

Leisure activities of every sort are not only ways to refine our expressions but also ways to unwind and recover.

Having your special someone interested in the same hobbies and entertainment options as you makes life easier and more enjoyable.

It’s very revealing when you can relax with someone.

4. If There Is Respect At All Times

Respect is a massive corner stone in the foundation of every relationship.

Respect is formed from awareness and reliability. Through respect, trust is gained, and with these formations your bonds will deepen.

This is hard to do all the time, so as long is they are putting forth effort.

5. If They Have Your Back

A good partner is always going to have your back and be supportive of your endeavors.

That doesn’t mean they won’t call you out on any bullshit if you deserve it, but they have your back.

6. If They Don’t Let you Get Away With Bullshit

Obviously your significant other should always support and nurture you as well as they can.

In order for this support to remain product, your lover must have the mutually understood ability to call you out when you are not acting right.

Not only do they need the ability but you must remain receptive to criticism.

7. If They Make You Feel Secure

It’s not their responsibility to make you feel secure from your responsibilities. With a good partner, you’ll naturally feel more secure just for having them around.

8. If They Constantly Work To Improve Themselves

In the same way that a good partner won’t try to change, you, you shouldn’t try to change your partner.

If they want to change something about themselves, encourage them! Back them up! But if not, leave them be.

9. If They Inspire You To Be A Better Person

A good partner won’t try to change you. Instead, they’ll back you up when you’re ready to change on your own.

If you don’t feel like you have to change, that’s fine. Your partner is into you either way.

10. If They Make You Feel Comfortable Being You

There are no walls between you. You don’t feel the need to enforce a persona or pretend to be anything.

They never judge or compare you, they love you and everything that makes you, you.

If anything you may have to work on taking down defenses that you carry with you at all times.

When you find the one, you may be surprised at the effort it takes for you to be simply you.

They are willing to help you learn to love yourself as much as they do.

11. If You Have Mutual Loyalty

Your place in their life is never up for questioning. They always operate with your best interests in mind.

They never resend their support for their benefit. You both work as a team.

When the two of you are separated, you never worry or fear what they are up to.

They do what is necessary to earn your trust, once earned they never abuse or test it.

12. If Making Love Is An Amazing And Deep Experience

They acknowledge your intimate needs and freely nurture them. They in turn relay their needs and you take care of them.

You both revel in exploring and experiencing each other’s bodies. As the two of you grow and change, it is done together.

Making love should never be a chore, but the ‘spark’ can be a hard to keep lit. Honest communication and high transparency help maintain a passionate experience.

13. If There Are No Uncomfortable Silences

Both of you can occupy a space, not talking to each other for hours comfortably.

The silence highlights the deeper connection you share. The space between you is never hostile or filled with insecurities or worry.

14. If They See You As A Priority

They answer your texts, make time to hang out and are thinking of you when you aren’t around.

If they are low on free time, they explain what’s going on and you keep informed.

15. If They Encourage Your Independence

While you can count on their support, you never lose the ability to stand on your own. A healthy, strong relationship is defined as two people working as a team.

You should never feel that you can’t live without them, though if you ever did lose them, it would be devastating.

Their love and support should create and foster a means to become a better and well rounded person.
