On September 13, 2023, journalist and self-proclaimed ufologist Jaime Maussan unveiled the caskets of two alleged alien corpses to Mexico's Congress. Testifying under oath, he presented his findings and proudly stated, "We are not alone."
He claims this finding took place in Cusco, Peru, but his specimens aren't confirmed to be real just yet, and there are still many skeptics who don't believe his story.
Two small, glass caskets hold two even smaller 'alien bodies'. Believed to be between 700-1,800 years old, they resemble what humans have long believed aliens to look like. They have large heads, small bodies, long limbs, large eyes, as well as three fingers on each hand and no teeth.
José de Jesús Zalce Benítez, a forensic expert and a military doctor, explained how the size of their heads supports the claim that they had big brains and eyes that "allowed for a wide stereoscopic vision." Jaime Maussan told the Mexican Congress that "these are not mummies," but "are complete bodies that have not been manipulated."
Jaime Maussan explained that these specimens were studied at the Autonomous National University of Mexico (UNAM) and that scientific evidence was drawn via radiocarbon dating. Using DNA samples, they determined that over 30 percent of these corpses' DNA was "unknown."
Benítez also presented Congress with X-ray scans of the alleged aliens' bodies, showing that one of the two had "eggs" inside. As such, he believes the specimen was pregnant. "I can affirm that these bodies have no relation to human beings," he said.
Maussan explained, "These specimen are not part of our terrestrial evolution... These aren't beings that were found after a UFO wreckage. They were found in diatom mines, and were later fossilized."
There's already been plenty of debate online regarding the validity of these alien corpses, especially seeing as Maussan has previously been associated with debunked 'alien discoveries' in the past. In 2017, when five mummified bodies were discovered at another site, he claimed they were alien in origin. It was later revealed that not only were they human, but he had reportedly manipulated the bodies to better fit his claim.
Right now it seems that officials are not on his side, but some people out there really want to believe what he's presenting. Even if this specimen winds up being fake, there are still many who will look to the stars at night and wonder what's out there.
