We tend to go through life distracted and overly stimulated by our technology and the never-ending list of chores that we never actually stop to notice the details around us. Sometimes those details can be life-saving. Luckily, children's curiosity gives them a power of perception that can see what we miss.
This story of how a toddler helped find a woman even police and detectives couldn't for days shows how capable we are of helping one another and what happens when we stop going through the motions and actually look at what is around us.

Nina Lipscomb, an 82-year-old woman with early-stage Alzheimer's Disease on the day that she went missing. She was there to visit her family like she did every year for some much-needed quality time and family love, especially since Nina's sister had passed away.
However, no one seemed to notice when Nina left her niece's home until she had wandered too far for them to see. They wouldn't learn the heartbreaking revelation till later that Nina had forgotten that her sister had passed because of her Alzheimer's and had gone looking for her. At that point, she was nowhere to be found.
Nina's family waited, hoping that Nina would somehow find her way back. Some of the family and community members were also searching for her in the area. However, when they still couldn't find her, they worried sick and reported her missing to the authorities.
Following a multi-day search by authorities and concerned community members, Nina still seemed nowhere to be found. Her family didn't want to lose hope but Nina's daughter, Karen Lipscomb remembers how the police "combed a five- and a ten-mile radius and there was no, I mean no sign of her anywhere."
Completely unaware of the missing woman in their neighborhood, Brittany Moore and her son Ethan, who was only a year and a half old were playing with bubbles in their backyard. As Ethan innocently chased his bubble, he drifted towards the fence. His mom noticed that his attention had been captivated by something other than the bubbles.
"I went over there and was like, 'What do you see buddy?' and he pointed and said, 'Feet,'" out of pure innocence. Brittany couldn't see anyone from where she was standing but when got to the little boy's eye level, crouching down, she also saw a pair of feet.
"If you get on his level and look through, you can see some of the broken sticks and that's where she was laying," Brittany panicked wanting to save this person and protect her son at the same time: "I didn't know if I needed to go into fight or flight because I had my little boy out here and the other inside," she added.
Brittany got her son inside, calmed down, and called for help. First responders quickly arrived and determined that the person lying in the words was in fact the same missing person they couldn't locate.
Luckily Nina was alive, but after having to fend for herself in the woods for four days, she was disoriented. She was brought to the hospital where they could restore consciousness and alertness back into her. She was then discharged as a healthy woman for her age.
A one-year-old managed to solve what thermal technology and professionals couldn't do. Nina had been finally found and was well. Nina felt like she owed that little boy her life; once she recovered, she got to meet him.
We pulled out every resource we thought we needed," explains Nina's daughter, but "it was a little boy" who saved the day, adding that Nina is "very fond of children." Despite being generations apart, the one just starting his life was able to save the woman nearing her end.
The place where Ethan found the 82-year-old was less than a quarter of a mile from where she was last seen. It turns out that it was near where her sister had once lived.
Ethan is living proof that we are all capable of making an impact. Ethan didn't have experience, money, and resources. All he had was goodwill, innocence, and perception. In a social media post, Karen also praised the little boy for helping bring her mother back home writing: "Angels come in all shapes and sizes."
It doesn't take a lot to make a difference in someone's life through simple acts of kindness and generosity. Ethan alone was able to connect two families, imagine the difference that you can have if you keep your eyes open and take note of who needs help ad what you can offer them.
If a toddler can save a life, what kind of impact can you have on the world? It does not take much. All you need is a purpose to work towards, and the motivation to stay focused on it.
