Cheating is a very touchy topic, and understandably so. It often leads to unimaginable heartbreak for the person being cheated on, and for the cheater, they're at risk of losing everything they've built in favor of seeking thrills, connection, and other motivations elsewhere.
There's seemingly no way to know who will cheat before they do, as there aren't a lot of concrete warning signs that point one way or another. However, thanks to a recent study, there might actually be a lead you can look to: someone's zodiac sign.
A website called Illicit Encounters, made for married people who are looking to have an affair, gathered all their birth date data from their users to find which zodiac sign was most prominent on their site, and thus seemingly more likely to want to cheat.
Though there are signs who are known for being secretive, two-faced, and manipulative, they weren't at the top of this list. The most popular sign by far was Aries at a whopping 21%, making up over one fifth of the site's user base.
Even between first and second place, there was a pretty big difference in percentages. Capricorn is the second-most popular sign on the site, making up 14% of its users, and Gemini is in third at 11%. There's a 10% difference between first and third place, meaning Aries really takes a strong lead here.
The numbers fall under the double digits after Gemini. Leo and Scorpio tie with 8%, Aquarius and Libra tie with 7%, Sagittarius and Pisces tie with 6%, then Cancer, Virgo, and Taurus make up the bottom three at 5%, 4%, and 3% respectively.
One of the site's own users, a man named Jason, commented on their study, saying, "As an Aries, I've always been drawn to adventure and excitement."
"I'm a devoted partner on the surface, but let's just say I've got a bit of a wandering eye. It's not that I don't love my wife, but sometimes the thrill of the chase is too hard to resist. Call it a weakness or blame it on the stars, but life's too short to stick to one path."

Another user, named Lucy, said, "I started having an affair last summer after reaching breaking point with my husband. He's a Pisces who seems to swim away from any sort of conflict, which means we’ve never managed to get around our marriage issues."
"I'm a Capricorn, and I've always prided myself on my loyalty and reliability. But guess what? Even us goats have our moments when we decide enough is enough. Now, I’m seeing a fellow Capricorn and I can finally say that I’ve found someone who really understands me."
Illicit Encounters' sex and relationships expert Jessica Leoni said that Aries are 'impulsive' and the 'daredevils' of the zodiac. "With their boundless energy and penchant for excitement, they're always chasing after the next thrill, making them more likely to be led straight into the arms of temptation."
She also commented on the sign in last place, Taurus, calling them 'loyal,' 'dependable,' and the "poster child for commitment."
"They're not about to let a little itch sway them from their path of devotion," Leoni explained. "So, if you've got yourself a Taurus partner, hold onto them tight – they're as faithful as they come!"
Of course, this doesn't mean that you should rush to your Aries partner and accuse them of cheating on you.
While this data is fascinating, it's not meant to apply to every person under every sign. It's simply a fascinating look at what personality types are more likely to seek out the taboo thrill of an affair, and given Aries' general nature, maybe we shouldn't be surprised that many of them turn to this avenue of thrill-seeking.
