Esra Polat and Fethullah Üzümcüoğlu, a turkish couple, decided that instead of spending their special wedding day celebrating themselves, they wanted to spend the day helping others. Instead of spending a bunch of money on a wedding, they decided to help feed 4,000 Syrian refugees displaced by the Syrian civil war.

“I thought that sharing a big delicious dinner with our family and friends was unnecessary, knowing that there are so many people in need living next door,” said Ali, the groom’s father, who works for a relief organization. “So I came up with this idea and shared it with my son. I’m very happy that he accepted it and they started their new happy journey with such a selfless action.”

What a truly beautiful gesture.
