An design duo called Ima Moteki out of Japan has created a new project called Nameless Paints. The project seeks to change how young people learn about colors. Instead of learning the names of the colors, they learn the combination of colors, or equation, if you will, needed to make the colors inside the tube.
The designers think that color labels are problematic.
“By not assigning names to the colors we want to expand the definition of what a color can be, and the various shades they can create by mixing them,” said Yusuke Imai, one of the designers.
The paints also teach color theory, teaching kids how to effectively mix colors to create new ones.
