I’m an introvert who recently moved to a new city. This has been quite the challenge for me. I’ve made new friends, but they didn’t come easy. I had to leave my comfort zone a little bit, but I maintained my introverted nature still. This is what I did.
I found things that I was interested in and I went to them. I visited lectures, political rallies, philosophical meetups, and it was great. I met a lot of people, some of whom became friends.
I’d cruise around the neighborhood or sit on my porch at around the same time every day. I saw a lot of the same faces and ended up befriending people in my own neighborhood.
College is expensive, but taking a course at the local community college isn’t too pricey. Not only was I able to learn about things I’d been interested in for a while, but I met some neat people along the way.
Coffee, alcohol, whatever. Get out of your house and go to the bar or a local coffee haunt. You don’t have to talk to anyone there, but if you want to, you can.
Head to the same park bench, beach, bar, cafe, whatever at the same time until it becomes your regular spot. People will start to notice you there all the time and you’ll insert yourself as one of the regulars.
