Have you ever wanted something so badly for so long, that it became the drive and reason behind literally everything you did, from eating breakfast to moving across the country?

If you know exactly what I’m referring to, and you’re still in the thrilling grips of that journey, then I applaud you.

I am so happy for you and I wish you the absolute best luck in making your dream come true…

But what happens when you’ve had one dream, one massive thing that you have put every ounce of yourself into for as long as you can remember, and suddenly you feel it fading?

What happens when you find yourself being drawn into something else entirely, and you start to worry that everything you’ve worked for so far has been in vain?

Fear not, good reader! If this is what you are experiencing, I am here to tell you, it will be alright! As human beings we are actually hard-wired for adaptation and evolution.

Things change, the world changes, we change. Our dreams, our goals and our desires sometimes change and that is perfectly okay and here are 5 reasons why.

1. You’re now free to be true to yourself.

It can be scary and difficult to let go of something that’s been such a big part of you for a long time, but there is nothing bad about freeing yourself from a dream that no longer serves or benefits you.

Yes you will be taking on a whole new challenge with it’s own set of difficulties and obstacles, but it is all in the name of being your authentic self and going after what your heart truly wants.

Let go of the past, let go of the fear, and relish the liberation you feel as you begin a new journey.

2. You are older and wiser, there is great value in this.

You might be giving up on an old dream, but the time and effort you spent working toward that goal was not lost.

You learned incredible things about yourself, your life, your limits or lack thereof, and you can use all of this knowledge and experience now to your advantage. It will prove to be an asset.

3. You’ve learned how strong you really are.

It can be an Earth-shattering thing, to lose one dream and become part of another.

Not only have you proven to yourself that you are strong and willful enough to work extremely hard to make your dream happen, but you’ve also shown that you have the strength and fortitude to adapt and move forward when it is called for.

4. You’re still learning who you are.

As I mentioned before, change is the only constant when it comes to human beings. We are ever-changing creatures and for good reason.

This is one of our best qualities as a species and it should never be thought of as a negative trait.

When a fundamental part of who you thought you were changes in a big way, it is only a sign that you are coming closer and closer to full realization, to being exactly who you were always meant to be.

Do not be disappointed or worried. This is how we learn and eventually become whole.

5. Every dawn brings a new day.

No matter what has gone before, at the end of the day, we know the sun always rises again.

There is nothing quite so beautiful, so full to the brim with potential and possibility, as a fresh start.

A new dream is just this, and you are the master of your own creation.

You now have a brand new path to start down and it will be full of wonderful and awesome things, new people, unique experiences and opportunities you never had before.

Be joyful, be brave. Live your new dream.
