Integrity is a skill that, for some, it's innate to their personality, while others have to work at it to integrate it fully into their lives. There's nothing wrong with that, either. If someone takes active steps to become a better person, no one should shame them for simply wanting to be kinder.

Those who do have integrity baked into their very soul can serve as excellent examples, though, like one man who instantly and instinctually did the right thing when faced with the perfect crime.

This man's story brings to mind an important lesson: compassion and selflessness can lead to great reward. If you're looking to emulate his actions and attract wealth into your life this year, look no further!

We never know when we'll be called upon to do the right thing. It could be something as small as helping someone pick up an item they dropped or as big as rescuing someone from a dangerous situation.

Not every opportunity will be so cut and dry either. You might face a rather heavy choice on this path, but for some who are truly pure of heart, they won't hesitate for even a moment before deciding to do the right thing.

Like George Condash from Michigan.

He was outside the ATM of his local credit union when he noticed a sizeable black metal box sitting in the middle of the road by the drive-through window. It was blocking the way, so he went over to pick it up.

After getting it out of the way, he inspected it further to see if he could tell what was inside. He thought it was simply garbage at first, but then he spotted a tag that blew his mind.

It read "$40,000."

A Lucky Find

It turns out an armored security guard had accidentally dropped the box when unloading several others from the ATM, not noticing it before driving off.

So, Condash marched right back into the credit union and placed the box on the counter.

As a joke, he asked the employees, "Is there a reward for $40,000?" When speaking to WDIV, he said the tellers "just looked dumbfounded."

Turns out the box only had $27,000 rather than the labeled $40,000, but still, that's a hefty chunk of change.

Condash knew right away what he needed to do, but were anyone else in the same situation, there's no guarantee they would have done the same.

"It could have ended in a very different way for us," said one of the credit union's employees. "But Mr. Condash was very honest and a good person to return the money, so we appreciate that very much."

Condash doesn't regret his decision for a second either, having been given a reward of gratitude by the credit union for returning the case.

"Twenty-seven thousand, yeah, that'd be great, but really, what's it going to get you?" He muses while speaking to Local 4, Detroit. "And you'd probably feel guilty for the rest of your life with it."

He's right, too. While $27,000 is a good amount of money—especially when randomly found on the side of the road—is that amount worth living with the guilt forever? Especially if you knew who to return it to.

Condash's attitude about the ordeal is commendable, and hopefully, the credit union's gratefulness and his own positivity will inspire others to do as he did should they find themselves in a similar situation.
