Keanu Reeves is a world-renowned actor who's known best for his roles in John Wick, The Matrix, and Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Not only that, but he also has a reputation for being a wonderful guy, one of the celebrities we hear more positives about than negatives.
And this continues all the way down the Keanu interaction pipeline, as not only do fellow actors and crew members have only nice things to say about him, but so do fans. Like one fan who shared a touching story that shows just how kind he is.
For the average person, meeting a celebrity can be quite the experience. Beyond simply being starstruck at getting to see someone so famous in person, there are some encounters where said celebrity does something remarkable, either remarkably kind or remarkably terrible, but thankfully, for this story, it's the former.
A Reddit post asked users, "What's something a famous person has done that just completely changed how you viewed them?" In response, one user left a comment that warmed the hearts of thousands.
"My grandmother had a crush on Keanu Reeves because he reminded her of my grandfather when he was young," the comment began. "Saw all his stuff, from Bill and Ted to The Matrix. She had a stroke in her early 70s and was pretty much housebound for the last 10 years of her life, so watching movies was her main hobby, and became almost like friends to her because she so rarely got to see any of her own."
"Not too long after The Matrix came out my uncle was in LA for business and was eating at a swanky restaurant when Keanu Reeves came in with a woman."
They continued, "When he finished his meal my uncle came up to their table and said 'I don't usually do this, but I just wanted you to know that my 80-year-old mother loves you and has seen all of your movies. You remind her of my dad.'"
As cliche as it sounds, what Keanu did next genuinely had left this user's uncle and everyone else who got to read this story, in complete shock.
"He said Keanu asked if he had a cell phone on him and when he confirmed that he did, he said 'Give her a call, I want to talk to her.' He spoke with my grandmother for several minutes and it made her year. She was so isolated and his genuine kindness to her and interest in her showed what a truly amazing man he is."
He knew just how much a call like that would mean to somebody, especially a woman who had been a fan of his for so long.
It didn't take much, just a phone call that lasted a few minutes, but it completely rocked her world.
Sure, we may not be celebrities, but this story is still a testament to how much a small act of kindness can mean to somebody. If there's something to take away here, it's not just that Keanu Reeves continues to be a kind, inspirational man, but that even a small gesture can mean more to someone than we can ever imagine.
