Do you think it is just a coincidence that children have incredible imaginations, love getting messy, making music, drawing, painting, and creating stories? Why doesn’t any of this carry into adulthood? Are we truly designed by nature to lose these precious gifts?
Eight years ago, Ken Robinson gave a TED talk that radically changed the concept of education. Many parents pulled their kids from school and it became a subject of intense debate among experts. The talk has been viewed over 32 million times on the TED website, and almost 8 million times on YouTube.
Robinson is an expert on education and creativity, and he strongly believes that currently, the two don’t seem to co-exist. In his speech, he argues very eloquently that our current education systems are ruining our childrens’ ability to think outside the box.
Robinson was knighted in 2003 by the British Government for leading the 1998 committee on creative and cultural education.
This classic talk featured below is one of the most viewed TED talks ever. If you’ve never seen it, now is the time!
