Thanks to Leroy Mwasaru and his Human Waste Bioreactor (HWB), the Maseno School in Kenya is now fueling their kitchens with safe, clean energy!

Back in 2013, when the Maseno School opened, it encountered a few problems. Faulty sewage eventually left a awful stench and polluted the local water sources.

Mwasaru and four of his friends came up with an idea to combat this problem: Harvest the poop that their school was producing and figure out a way to convert it into clean, safe, and environmentally-conscious cooking fuel.
