Here’s a great tip for anyone that gets heel blisters when hiking, running, or walking. A simple way to prevent blisters is by using what’s known as a “lace lock” or “heel lock,” which creates added friction between your ankle and the laces.

This added friction keeps the heel and ankle tight within the shoe. It will also help prevent you toes from smashing into the tips of your shoes.

So that’s what the extra shoelace hole is for!
