An artist always uses a tool of some kind, be it a paintbrush, a chisel, or a pencil. In the case of Bosnian Sculptor, Jasenko Đorđević, he creates art out of the tools used to create art. He uses a tiny x-acto knife like it’s a chisel to carve from pencil lead what could very well be carved in stone.
He likes to use black lead, or graphite, for the most part. “It is hard and fragile at the same time. One has to be very careful when working with black lead, as the smallest lack of attention can lead to its cracking.”
