If you dressed goth in high school, your parents probably didn’t understand it, did they? Well, there could be something to that style. A new study has found that wearing black makes you appear more attractive, intelligent, and confident in yourself. No wonder I like black so much!
The researchers surveyed 1,000 people to find which colors they associated most frequently with certain qualities. Black was either the first or second in every category with positive connotations, like sexually attractive or intelligent. 66% of women found black to be attractive on a man. 46% of men preferred black clothing on women as well. Both of these figures represented the largest majorities.
Red was the second most popular color, associated with confidence and assertiveness. About 12% of responders marked red as an intelligent color, but most people also tied it to arrogance. These are their findings charted out:
