There are varying degrees of autism and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Both are general terms for a group of complex disorders of brain development. These disorders are defined by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication and repetitive behaviors.

Each case of ASD is very distinct and there doesn’t appear to be a consistent pattern. A person may have poor motor function but excel at math or science.
