Science has uncovered subtle signs that you may be brushing off even though they suggest you're at risk of early death. In fact, Brazilian experts tracked 2,000 people aged 50 to 75 and compiled a list of signs we're about to share with you. Test yourself to see if you're at risk.

While we may all wobble and stumble every once in a while, we should still maintain a certain sense of gravity and balance. Researchers in Brazil found that those who can't complete the "Flamingo" test are nearly twice as likely to die early as those who can. These finds were made based on more than 1,700 participants, aged 50 to 75 exercising with various fitness tests.
To test yourself, see if you can stand on one leg for 10 seconds without any support. If you can't because you're wobbling too much, then you might be at risk, according to the latest study.
The results found that those unable to stand unsupported on one leg for 10 seconds were 84% more likely to die from any cause. In fact during the seven-year course of the study, 123 people died.
Your walking speed can also say a lot about your life expectancy. It turns that that people who walk slowly are putting themselves at risk of an earlier death, especially if they're over 65. If you think about it, walking is a form of exercise that can accelerate your heart rate and keep it healthy.
French Researchers measured the walking speed of 3,200 participants over-65s for five years. They found that the slowest third of walkers were 44 % more likely to die by the end of the study, compared to the fastest group. They interpreted these results saying that fast walkers may be fitter and benefit from better cardiovascular health.
Give this a try first. Sit down and then stand up without holding on to anything. Your capacity to do so could determine your level of risk. In fact, those who struggle to sit down and back up without needing to support themselves are five times more likely to die young, according to researchers.
These results were based on candidates aged 51 to 80, who took the same test. Unfortunately, 159 deaths were logged in the study's six-year period. If you're wondering what sitting and rising have to do with anything, they is correlated to a loss of mobility, flexibility, and muscle strength.
How many stairs can you climb before you're simply out of breath? If you answered less than four flights of stairs then it may be time to work on your endurance unless you're willing to risk an early grave. Scientists behind this study say that you can test your heart health by either walking up three floors quickly without break, or four flights of stairs at a normal pace
A study in pain observed over 12,000 people running on treadmills, gradually picking up the pace until they couldn't anymore. It tracked their heart rate for five years and found that death rates, including heart disease, were almost three times higher in participants who weren't fit enough to complete the workout. Their lack of fitness also affects their weight, blood pressure, and inflammation.
How firm is your handshake? Another study found that people with weak grips are up to 20 percent more likely to die early. This was based on studying about 500,000 volunteers aged 40 to 69.
Squeezing a specific tool with their hand, results found that for every 5kg drop in participants' grip strength, their risk of dying from any cause, cardiovascular disease, and cancer increased by a fifth. The weakness of the grip was associated with skeletal muscle health. So grab a squishy ball and keep squeezing to increase your odds back up.
Now, this may be the hardest test on this list, especially the older you are. However, research shows that those who struggle to complete 10 push-ups are nearly twice as likely to suffer a heart attack or stroke than those who can manage 40. Luckily all it takes to work on this one is a floor or a wall to work your muscles.
After all the findingss are based on a link between physical fitness and the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Pushups are also not the only determinant of physical health. Yet those who could do more than 40 push-ups were 96% less likely to suffer from cardiovascular disease. Keep in mind that muscle strength also protects protects against deaths from all causes and high blood pressure.
The results were published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine. Even the scientists of the study reassure us that their findings do not mean that a lack of balance is a cause of death. Rather they are trying to tell us that we need a good level of balance on a daily basis and that being grounded and active is crucial for health.
These tests gave quick and objective feedback and added useful information regarding mortality risk in middle-aged and older men and women. There are many age-appropriate exercises that can help any areas that are currently putting you at risk.
At the end of the day, age is but a number and there is no magic formula to extend your life or preserve your youth. We have no actual way of predicting when our life will end, but only tips to increase the odds of living a full healthy, and happy life.
