Being mentally and emotionally strong is one of the keys to whether or not you live a good, happy life. Emotional strength comes in many different levels and they all take work.

Are you still searching for your life purpose? You won’t believe what the science of Numerology can reveal about you!

That’s right, the numerology of your birth date, regardless of what month you were born, can reveal surprising information about your personality.

Emotions, if left unchecked, can control everything that we do and boot logic from the equation entirely. Without emotions though, we’d lead much emptier lives with little reason to take care of ourselves and others.

But fortunately, you can rein in out of control emotions. These are 11 things emotionally strong people don’t do.

1. They don’t desire attention

Emotionally fragile people often require validation and attention from people around them. This leads them to taking actions that they are later ashamed of and sometimes drive people away instead of drawing them in.

These people cry out for attention in many different ways, but you won’t see an emotionally strong person acting that way. They validate themselves.

They pay attention and take care of their own needs. If they’ve accomplished something awesome, yeah, they’re not going to turn down a little bit of extra attention.

But they don’t try to seek it out.

2. They don’t let other people bring them down

We’re naturally social creatures, which makes the judgment and feelings of the people around us so critically important to our mental well-being.

When we feel rejected by those closest to us, it can hurt. It can make you feel like kind of a loser. But the emotionally strong have gotten over those feelings.

Like I said before, they validate themselves. They don’t need it from anyone else. Of course, they’ll always try to keep the people around them happy by doing positive things, but you can’t please everyone and they know that.

Everyone catches flack from their community sometimes. What do emotionally strong people do? They say “screw it” and move on.

They don’t let it bring them down.

3. They don’t hold grudges or resent others

In all of our lives, people do things that are kind of messed up to us. Spouses cheat, friends backstab, business partners do shady things; it happens.

Emotionally strong people reserve the right to get pissed off at you if you do bad things to them, but they don’t allow it to be held as a grudge and they certainly don’t harbor long-term resentment.

They say hating someone is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to get sick, and the emotionally strong bear that in mind.

While they may promise eventual forgiveness, they’ll steel feel all of their feelings in the moment. They don’t deny themselves that.

4. They don’t sacrifice what they want to do

When it comes to the emotionally strong, they consider everyone around them, but at the end of the day, they’re not going to sacrifice their goals and dreams over silly reasons or the fear of change.

Emotionally strong people often love their current situation, but if they have a thirst for something bigger, they’ll go for it. Trying to derail or talk an emotionally strong person out of something is difficult.

They’re not inept and they know it. They know what they want, how to get it, and they’re not likely to stop.

5. They don’t stop believing in themselves

As I’ve mentioned before, the best kind of validation you’ll experience is validation from yourself. Feeling good about accomplishments and really, at the end of the day, just liking yourself.

Emotionally strong people get that, and as a result, they don’t often stop believing in themselves over failure and trivial setbacks.

They’re strong people and they’re not going to give up for anything. They believe in themselves to the very end.

6. They don’t act mean to others

It’s not terribly uncommon for people who really want to get ahead and be on top to act like total jerks to each other.

Emotionally strong people know that you’ll attract more flies with honey than vinegar, and when you really think about it, attracting flies isn’t even really the point of our lives.

It’s being happy and doing what you want to do. Emotionally strong people know that they don’t have to screw anyone to get what they need in life. Refreshing, isn’t it?

7. They don’t let just anyone into their lives

Emotionally strong people tend to be friendly and outgoing individuals, even if they’re a bit more introverted than others. They can easily attract people to their lives, but that doesn’t mean they’ll let just anyone in.

They vet people thoroughly before admitting them into their lives. It makes sense for them. They don’t want to be brought down by others and they certainly don’t want any kind of negativity around them.

Chances are, if you’re emotionally strong, you’ll only let the emotionally strong in.

8. They don’t dread the day ahead

Sometimes we find ourselves dreading a tough day at work or a rough situation at home.

When emotionally strong people wake in the morning, they don’t lay in bed dreading what’s to come. They take a few deep breaths, plan out how they want to handle themselves, and plunge right in.

Emotionally strong people seem to be made of Teflon. All the bullcrap just washes over them. They can handle anything.

9. They don’t fear slowing down or getting older

Getting older, slowing down, and our eventual mortality are all rather intimidating prospects, especially our mortality. For better or for worse though, you were born.

Emotionally strong people recognize that life needs to be taken on head on and that you can’t fear the things that are to come.

You’ll get older, you’ll slow down, and you’ll die. If it’s any consolation, it’ll happen to me too.

10. They don’t hesitate to say no

This is by far the biggest one. When the emotionally strong don’t want to do something, aren’t interested, or feel pressured into something, they won’t hesitate to tell you a firm no over it.

It’s among their stronger qualities as people. The ability to say no will likely save you a great deal of grief in your life.

11. They don’t blindly follow list posts like this one
