Mike Jordan of Corpus Christi, Texas, has broken the world record for most pull-ups in a 24 hour period, according to Guinness World Records.
Jordan, a 54 year old, broke the previous record of 4,210 at around 1 a.m. on November 4th, 2014. He finished his set at 4,321 just after 2 a.m.
“My mission … is to let everybody know that it’s never too late to start to make a difference as far as improving and optimizing your health,” said Jordan, who trained for a year for his record-setting feat. He raised money for the Hammons Education Leadership program that helps expose at-risk youth to a variety of careers.
Mike McCastle, a 27 year old from Coupeville, Washington attempted to break the same record in July but stopped about 800 repetitions short of his goal when the muscles in his arms began to tear and his capillaries started to rupture. He was hospitalized but he said he would try to break the record again and raise money and awareness for the Wounded Warriors Project.
It really goes to show what you can accomplish with a little bit of hard work and tenacity – even later on in life.
