A nightwalker, as the name suggests, is someone who takes walks at night. While most of us are soundly asleep in the comfort of our own beds, others, take this time as an opportunity to enjoy the world in its quietness and stillness. A night walk is meant to be a peaceful adventure, where one connects back to the world without its noise.
However, the darkness of the night can also bring about some pretty creepy situations. Those of us who were awake to see it, shared their sightings on Reddit. Read at your own risk, as some of the stories are chilling.
“One time I turned around to see what was behind me just out of intuition, and I saw someone step behind a tree rather quickly and try to hide from me. I stood there for a second to confirm this, then I speed-walked home.” – THCRANGER
Were they being followed or did they just happen to come across another nightwalker finding peace in nature? We’ll never know.
“I worked the night shift for 7 years. One night a young, thin blonde woman was walking down the street at 2 am with no pants and a button-up shirt open. I tried to ask if she needed help and she just stared forward, while slowly walking. I called the police and they came and stood in front of her and she slowly walked into the cop’s hand and stopped. I didn’t stay and went back to work.” —Indika123
It’s a good thing sleepwalking isn’t illegal.
“So if you have ever seen Legion, the TV show, I was driving in a Richmond suburb with my friend and we saw this guy standing in the middle of the road that looked exactly like the main villain did in the schizo visions.
He looked at us and turned around to watch us go past. He ended up being gone when we turned around to try and see him again to convince ourselves of what we saw.”
” A guy dressed up as a clown, during the mass hysteria of attacking clowns. He was trying to scare me and chase me expecting me to run off. What he didn’t know was that my mates and I had spotted him before and they used me as bait so we could surround him and learn him a lesson about scaring people at night.” – CozyTime
As if clowns weren’t scary enough? We definitely don’t need them jumping out of bushes at night.
” I don’t know if anybody has ever heard of this but my friends believe it to be true. In southern Georgia/Alabama and all of Florida there are these people they call nightwalkers. If you have ever driven through these areas late at night you may have seen one.
You will be miles from anything and see a random person standing on the side of the road staring at you. Personally, it happened to me most recently when I was going on spring break. No broken-down car nearby, no cities anywhere near. He wasn’t trying to hitchhike, he was just standing there.” – scaredsh*tless0
“I was sleeping in a bed with my grandmother. I sat straight up in the middle of the night. I woke her up to say, “There’s somebody in the house.”
She figured I was asleep still, so she guided me through each room of the house to prove to me that it was empty. I have no memory of any of this.” – TbhIdekMyName
“An old man walked very aggressively, like Jason from Friday the 13th but sped up. I was ready to run but I walked past him and nothing happened. Put me on my toes but common, change your walking form man.” – micho6
Clearly, they haven’t heard that the way that you carry yourself usually says a lot about you. It might be worth training yourself to walk with your head held high.
“Living in a rural village I was taking a late-night walk with my girlfriend when suddenly we hear a loud what we thought was a human scream. Turned out it was a sheep, jump scared us hard though.” – Bfortbattle
In a rural village, this is probably as exciting as the entertainment life might get.
“I’ll walk my dog at night and wear an LED headlamp, mostly so I can see any bear eyes glowing back at me. Twenty feet down the ravine about half a mile from home one night, there were approximately 30 rabbits with eyes glowing and blinking bank at me. Couldn’t see the rabbits due to undergrowth, but the eyes….”
Bunnies may be cute in the daylight, but at night it’s a whole other world out there.
“I live out in the country, more woods and fields around me than houses. There are several dirt paths through the woods that farmers use for their tractors and all during the day. So one night, it had rained during the day, so all the tracks on the path were gone. I was out running around midnight. I had an uneasy feeling but didn’t see anything.
But then I circled around and on my 2nd pass down I saw my footprints, but then I saw another set of prints, bigger than mine, that hadn’t been there before. Then I saw they made the turn the same way I had earlier. I cut it short that night, never saw anyone, but still.” – VictoriaEuphoria99 / Reddit
