Sitting for long periods of time has a negative impact on your metabolism, effecting blood sugar levels, cholesterol, blood pressure, triglycerides, and leptin, the “appetite hormone.” Many times, this can all lead to obesity and heart disease.
When we sit for too long, we sabotage our bodies. We weaken our lymphatic system which makes us more vulnerable to infection. The lymph vessels must drain, but they don’t pump like the heart. They require rhythmic contraction of the legs to do it.
